C L I N T O N T W P N E W S L E T T E R . C O M 1 8 n o v e M b e r 2 0 2 3 A MESSAGE FROM DR. STAGER, CTSD SUPERINTENDENT: Dear Clinton Township Community Members, Fall is my favorite time of year. As the leaves change and begin to fall we see incredible growth in our students. The routines and procedures are set and they can focus on academic pursuits. Part of helping our students succeed is supporting their learning at home. In younger grades, this is checking in to see what was learned and letting them show you new concepts and skills. In the older grades, we have given our students access to Tutor. com through a partnership with the high school. This allows our students in grades 3-8 to have on demand access to a qualified tutor for homework help or practice. However, above all, the most important thing we can do to support our children's academic growth is to read to them and to encourage them to read. Students who are regular readers are shown to have higher achievement overall. By focusing on reading for 20 minutes a day, you are truly partnering with the district to help your child reach their full potential. We also want to take a moment and wish you and everyone else a very Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you find time to connect with loved ones and enjoy the time together. – Sincerely, Dr. Melissa Stager, Ed.D Superintendent, CTSD C L I N T O N T O W N S H I P S C H O O L N E W S www.ctsdnj.org WEEK OF RESPECT In accordance with the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, the first week of October was classified as the "Week of Respect." The third week in October was designated as "School Violence Awareness Week". These weeks are designed to ensure that all students in our school will be receiving age-appropriate instruction on respecting themselves and others. The theme of respect is instrumental in helping students to feel comfortable in our schools. Students learn that respect occurs when you listen to others, play fair, use good manners, wait your turn, compliment someone, pick up after yourself, and treat others in a positive manner. Being respectful is one of the key ingredients to being the best person you can be! These weeks we continue our focus upon RESPECT for ourselves, others and our environment in CTSD. GOVERNOR'S EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR PROGRAM The New Jersey Department of Education has announced the Governor's Educator of the Year Program for the 2023-2024 school year. This celebratory program highlights educational innovation, student achievement, the rewards of teaching, and important services outside the classroom environment that lead to student success. Do you know a classroom teacher or educational services professional who is dedicated, inspiring, and making a difference in the lives of students? If so, please take the time to recommend this person by visiting our website to complete and submit it to the building principal on, or before, Friday, November 17, 2023.
