Iron Girl Project ("IGP") proudly partnered with Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club and the Heritage Cares Foundation, to host its Second Annual Links For Lex Golf Tournament & Dinner in Whitehouse Station in mid-September. Over $20,000 was raised for the Iron Girl Project scholarship fund, far exceeding the projected goal. Eighty-four golfers enjoyed a beautiful fall day of golfing on the picturesque Stanton Ridge Par- 71 championship golf course along with lunch, beverages, gift bags, bar service, dinner, and dessert. Additional guests joined the golfers for cocktails, dinner, dessert, and the raffle S E C o n d a n n u a l ' l i n K S f o r l E x ' g o l f t o u r n a m E n t E x C E E d S g o a l basket and silent auction which featured many gift baskets all valued between $250 and $400, plus lots of silent auction items. A full rainbow appeared over the course after a quick moving late afternoon shower, just in time for the 50/50 Raffle Helicopter Ball Drop which raised over $2,000. Taking first place were a father and son foursome including Gavin and Rich Rau of Somerset, and Mark and Jack Mayrides of Flemington. Second place went to Jim Murphy, Matt Fay, Kevin Blaney, and Matt Rocca. According to Danielle and Mike Karpinski, Alexea's parents and IGP founders, "After a profound loss, one of the most important things for a grieving family is to continue to talk about their loved one and to carry on their legacy. Iron Girl Project has given us a platform to honor our daughter by supporting other student-athletes who share her core beliefs by awarding these outstanding students with annual scholarships that will help them continue on their path to making a difference." All proceeds raised benefit the Alexea G. Karpinski Memorial Scholarship fund for graduating senior athletes who demonstrate true grit, understand the value of teamwork, and exhibit leadership on and off the athletic field. In June 2023, IGP awarded nine scholarships totaling $20,277.00 to graduating high school student-athletes to continue their studies. With several IGP fundraising events scheduled throughout the year, the goal of the organization is to continue to award multiple scholarships to student-athletes across New Jersey. IGP would like to thank its many volunteers who worked for months organizing this event and its major corporate sponsors including the Heritage Cares Foundation, Diamond Nation, American Express, PS&S Engineering, The Palace at Somerset Park, the Travers Family, USI Insurance, Culton Law Firm, Loew & Patel Orthodontics, and the Amanda Rose Laura Foundation. IGP's next scheduled event, the Third Annual Flex For Lex Power Workout, will be held live and virtually on November 20, 2023, at Hunterdon Central Regional High School and high schools across the country. All high school athletes are encouraged to donate $5 to participate in the Flex For Lex Power Workout Circuit designed by Hunterdon Central's Head Strength Conditioning Coach, Paul Kolody. Iron Girl Project, Inc. was specifically created to honor the memory of Alexea "Lex" Karpinski, an aspiring two-sport D1 athlete and Honor Roll student in her junior year at Hunterdon Central Regional High School who passed away suddenly in November of 2020. It supports high school student-athletes in their journey to create their own legacy, one that has a positive impact on their teammates, families, and communities. The Third Annual Links for Lex Golf Tournament & Dinner will be held on September 23, 2024.
