Four Girl Scouts are set to receive their Silver Award for their
work to improve the local community of the Blue Army Shrine
in Washington Township.
Anna Nagle, Rebecca Mason,
Gabriela DeSaulniers and
Malaika DeSaulniers of Troop
80923 answered the plea of Father
Luke of the Blue Army Shrine
Catholic Community, that they
needed benches to help beautify
and improve access to the grounds.
With help from their troop and
the Phillipsburg Lowes, the young
ladies were able to acquire the
materials to build five benches and
learned how to operate all of the
necessary equipment to cut and
construct the benches. With the
assistance of local resources, they
learned how to assemble, sand,
and stain the benches. They were
introduced to the new technology
of 3D-printing as well as how to design and use 3D-printers to create plaques
for each of the benches. The benches were then donated and dedicated before
being placed at their new locations on the grounds of the Blue Army Shrine.
