Scouts from Troop 288, and their "sister" Troop
432, kicked off camp season in late June with a
fantastic week at Frontiers Camp, in the Green
Mountains of Vermont. This unique camp is styled
after an 1830's "mountain man" rendezvous, where
there are no modern conveniences like flashlights
or sleeping bags or gas stoves. Scouts learn
essential frontier skills like archery, leatherwork,
rifle and shotgun shooting, fishing, canoeing,
campfire cooking, and many more, with a strong
emphasis on teamwork, all while having a ton of fun
(despite this year's challenging weather!)
As always, Troop 288 marched in Lebanon
Borough's Fourth of July parade, and enjoyed
getting soaked for a good cause afterwards while
running the dunk tank to raise funds for Lebanon
Borough Fire Department.

explored The Bahamas aboard the sailing ship
Ciganka! They learned to work as the vessel's crew,
and spent days swimming, snorkeling, sailing the
Abaco Islands, and even caught The Bahamas 50th
Independence Day celebrations!
A fun and rewarding week of summer camp
at Resica Falls Scout Reservation in the Poconos
closed out summer camp season. 41 Scouts from
Troops 288 and 432 made the most of the myriad
of opportunities available, and earned a total of 160
merit badges - from swimming to movie-making,
woodworking to music, electronics to life saving,
emergency preparedness to geocaching, and many,
many more! Troop 288 Scouts won camp awards
for creativity in art, shop and the themed "Detective
Dash" triathlon, and eight Scouts
received their ATV certification. Even the scout
leaders got in on the action, participating in their
own training in topics like water safety and leave
no trace. A memorable week for all!
The last weeks of summer were rounded out with
a variety of Troop outings, including some highly
competitive mini golf, a trip to the movies, and a
fun evening of bowling.
