STAGER, CTSD SUPERINTENDENT: Dear Clinton Township Community Members, Thomas Edison once said, "Good Fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning." Here at Clinton Township School District, we are putting ourselves on a path towards "Good Fortune." During the 2022-2023 school year community members, parents, teachers, and administrators met to create a strategic plan for Clinton Township School District. You can see information about the plan by visiting our Strategic Planning Website (https://sites.google.com/ ctsdnj.org/ctsdstrategicplanning/goal-one). Moving forward, small groups will work together every year, co-led by a teacher and an administrator, to create benchmarks towards meeting our long term goals. While a lot of the work will be internal, some groups may reach out to the community at large to participate. The goals will be updated as committee members meet throughout the year, and updates will be shared at future Board of Education meetings. We are also again sharing with the public that we will have a community vote on the hiring of a School Resource Officer (SRO) on the November ballot. A School Resource Officer is a specially trained, active Clinton Township Police Officer who provides safety and security to the buildings while working with students on programs like drug use prevention, responsible social media use, and making good choices. If these budget questions do not pass, our district will not be able to have any current or retired police officers permanently on site for at least two years. If the budget questions are approved, we will be able to have one or two full time SRO(s) in the district starting in November of 2023. Please look at the flyer below to become informed about how this will impact taxpayers. We continue to hope the community prioritizes the safety of our schools. As a community member, we would love for you to become more informed. Please consider watching the board of education meetings, which are broadcasted live via Zoom. You can find the schedule here (https:// ctsdnj.org/district/board_of_education/ b_o_e_meeting_zoom_registration). The next meeting is September 11th at 7:00 p.m. There is also a monthly Coffee and Conversation with the Superintendent that you can access here (https://forms.gle/ A3ZQmoqKjBHUNU3J6). This is where, as the Superintendent, I meet with the public to share general updates with the public and to get feedback from the community. Thank you for becoming informed and for supporting Clinton Township School District! – Sincerely, Dr. Melissa Stager, Ed.D Superintendent, CTSD
