Service Unit 81 just
marched in the annual
Lebanon Boro 4th of July
parade! As we've marched in this
parade as a Service Unit for many
years before, there were some firsts
for us this year. We not only cruised on
our first ever float, but we also won the
"Best Children's Float!" Our troops were
more than excited to receive a trophy for
our recognition.
How do we explain 4th of July to our Girl
Scouts and children surrounding us? We
describe July Fourth as the nation's birthday.
We share with them that the parade, post
parade gathering the park, hot dogs and
fireworks are all part of the celebration.
As children get older, they can begin to
understand what independence really
means.
