(IGP) is pleased to announce that it has awarded nine Alexea G. Karpinski Memorial Scholarships totaling $20,277.00 to graduating high school student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, determination and compassion on their teams, in their classrooms and in their communities. The amount of the scholarship given to each winner was $2,253 to reflect the jersey numbers Lex wore at Hunterdon Central, #22 for lacrosse and #53 for field hockey. According to Danielle and Mike Karpinski, Alexea's parents and IGP founders, "We were overwhelmed with the number of applications and honored to read all the essays. So many shared personal accounts of obstacles, especially throughout the pandemic, and how high school sports helped them find comfort, confidence and strength to overcome hurdles and achieve their goals." They continued, "We understand, as Lex did, how being a part of a team creates a sense of family and how coaches and teammates can be instrumental during this pivotal time of adolescence." On June 4, 2023, IGP hosted the Third Annual Laps for Lex 5K Run & 1M Walk at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Two hundred and thirty runners and walkers participated, raising just over $10,000 for the scholarship fund. All scholarship winners were invited to participate. The next fundraising event, the Links for Lex Second Annual Golf Outing will be hosted by Iron Girl Project and the Stanton Ridge Golf & Country Club in Whitehouse Station on Monday, September 18. Registration information for the golf outing and other annual fundraising events can be found by visiting: www.IronGirlProject.org or by emailing: IronGirlProject@gmail.com. i R o n g i R l p R o J e c t awa R d s n i n e s c h o l a R s h i p s t o t a l i n g $ 2 0 , 2 7 7 w i l d a i R c a m p s – a m o B i l e G l a m p i n G e x p e R i e n c e !
