B s a t R o o p 2 8 8 s p R i n g R o u n d u p BSA Troop 288 enjoyed a spring calendar full of activities, before their regular season winds down, and summer camp adventures begin! A crew of 32 Scouts and adult leaders spent time taking care of a local section of the Highlands Trail. The Troop is a member of the New York-New Jersey Trails Conference, and is responsible for the maintenance of a one mile section of the Highlands Trail at Spruce Run Recreation Area. Next time you're looking to get outdoors, visit the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference interactive map (www.NYNJTC.org/hike-finder-map) and choose from over 700 hikes, parks and destinations throughout New Jersey and New York. On Memorial Day, Scouts and leaders from Troop 288 gathered to march in Readington Township's Memorial Day Parade, an annual tradition for the Troop, to take time to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. In early June, Troop 288 headed to Camp Acahela, near Blakeslee, PA, for their annual PUCO (Patrol Unity Commando Operation) campout. The Camp is situated at the confluence of the Lehigh River and the Tobyhanna Creek on 250 acres of Pocono woodlands, and was the perfect location for this patrol vs patrol water battle! Scouts and leaders from Troop 288 were delighted to support Cub Scout Pack 190 at their family campout at Camp Tecumseh in Pittstown recently, passing along their Scout skills by teaching Cub Scouts how to safely brand on wood. BSA Troop 288 meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm in the Fellowship Hall at Annandale Reformed Church, and welcomes new members to join us. For more information on Scouting, visit www.BeAScout. scouting.org, or contact Scoutmaster Chris Neighbor: cgneighbor@ comcast.net for more information about joining BSA Troop 288.
