It is essential that our students and teachers feel safe and supported, but we also want to ensure students have rich learning experiences and meet their full academic potential. In order to continue this partnership, we are looking for ways to ensure this position A MESSAGE FROM DR. STAGER, CTSD SUPERINTENDENT: has funding over time while maintaining the excellence we are known for. Having a School Resource Officer provides a lens to look at security throughout the District, allows principals to focus on instructional leadership, and gives many parents a sense of safety. This is invaluable in this particular day and age. Detective Akers is forming strong relationships with our staff and students, and we hope the public continues to support this partnership between CTSD and the CTPD. – Sincerely, Dr. Melissa Stager, Ed.D Superintendent, CTSD Patrick McGaheran School & Round Valley School Global School Play Day: On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, our schools had the privilege of participating in the Global School Play Day (GSPD). GSPD is a day dedicated to reminding students of the importance of unstructured play. Play is fundamental to social learning, fostering creativity, and allowing kids to just be kids. There are many benefits and necessities of play, both in and out of the classroom. On GSPD, students spent the day playing inside and outside, with other classes, with new friends and old friends, and were encouraged to take ownership of their play! Students played with board games, card games and made up their own games. They played with plush toys, building toys and made crafts. Students created classroom forts fully equipped with a generator, an air conditioning unit, a restaurant, a veterinarian's office, a day care facility, an office, and individual rooms for sleeping and play! PMG and RVS students had the best day and we look forward to participating in this event annually! Read Across America: While we focus on reading all year long at PMG and RVS, in March we CELEBRATE reading! Thanks to our PTA, a special reading celebration is coordinated in each classroom, and our students participate in special reading themed activities throughout "Read Across America" week as we celebrate READING!
