The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Hunterdon County has named M r . B il l W i l s o n a s 2 0 2 3 F S S P Parade Grand Marshal and Mr. Don O'Keefe as 2023 Irishman of the Year. Both gentlemen received their sashes of office at a meeting of the Friendly Sons in late December 2022. After the 2020 and 2021 FSSP St. Patrick's Day Parades fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Friendly Sons were delighted to be able to mark a return to normality with last year's Parade. This year, the festivities continue! The 8th Annual FSSP St. Patrick's Day Parade will step off at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 12, and will be bigger than ever with more bands, more marching groups, and more attractions! The Parade will be the centerpiece of a series of events being held in-and-around Clinton to mark St. Patrick's Day. The Parade will highlight Irish American traditions and culture, including six Pipe & Drum bands, along with world class Irish dancers, musicians, singers, public service groups, veterans, vintage cars, canine groups and much more! Parade Co-Chair Brian Manning added "For many years now the Friendly Sons have organized the St. Patrick's Day Parade. This has grown to be the largest single-day event in Clinton that is family-friendly and entertaining for all ages, young and old." FSSP President Mr. Russ Crosby paid tribute to Bill Wilson and Don O'Keefe who have been friends, brothers, and stalwarts of the Friendly Sons for several years."These gentlemen embody everything that is positive about the FSSP. They tirelessly volunteer for the group and are leaders who have gained the respect of their fellow Brothers. Since joining the organization eight years ago, Bill Wilson has been pivotal to our philanthropic efforts and has guided and directed many aspects of the FSSP's charitable endeavors. Don O'Keefe has been a member for as long as Bill and he has used his sense of community along with his considerable financial acumen to serve as the organization's treasurer for many years relinquishing the role only in 2022. We owe a considerable debt of gratitude to both, and this recognition is richly deserved." 2023 Commemorative FSSP Parade Pin: As in previous years the FSSP will be releasing a commemorative pin to mark the 2023 Parade season, the fifth of a series of pins that mark famous landmarks of Hunterdon County. All pins are available for purchase from the FSSP for $5 each. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Hunterdon County is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that aims to promote, embrace, and enjoy Irish American culture in a positive and progressive manner.
