Did you know that community service is one of our most focused
practices, within Girl Scouts? Girl Scout Service Unit 81, which serves both
Clinton Township and Lebanon Borough, is focused on the holiday season ahead.
Many of us cherish the time we get to spend with our friends, family and loved
ones. During this time, however, it's also easy to get caught up in the whirlwind
of the season. Hectic travel schedules and frenzied last-minute shopping can
make the holidays more stressful than they need to be. So instead of getting
caught up in what gifts to buy, spend some time thinking about how you can
give back to those who may be less fortunate. After all, giving back is the
best way to spread holiday cheer.
There are countless opportunities to volunteer and lend a helping
hand during the holidays, but part of volunteering is understanding
why you should help others. Some of the services we have loved for years;
sending handmade cards to our local nursing homes, sending needed goods
oversees to our military, shopping and providing goods to our local food pantries
and caroling through our local streets to spread joy.

BSA Troop 288 recently celebrated the achievements of our Scouts at
our Fall Court of Honor. Taking place in Annandale Reformed Church, troop
leaders, family and friends gathered to recognize our Scouts, who collectively
received 214 merit badges and rank advancement awards, and for the first time
in several years, two Mile Swim awards were earned.
BSA Troop 288 meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the
Fellowship Hall at Annandale Reformed Church. We welcome new
members to join us! For more information on Scouting, visit: www.
