If not illegal, it's certainly un-neighborly to spy on your neighbor's driveway and property. Signed, Miffed in Stanton Dear Miffed, While I won't disagree that recording what goes on in a neighbor's driveway or on their property seems to be un-neighborly, it is not generally illegal. A person has no expectation of privacy when in clear view of members of the public. Therefore, if the nosy neighbor's camera captures your yard, driveway or other areas that anyone driving or walking by would be able to see, there is no violation of the law. If the situation is one which is causing you distress and you do not feel speaking with your neighbor regarding your concerns would be productive, perhaps a privacy fence or planting some trees or shrubs to block their view might be an option? Regards, Officer Raff WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE RETURN OF OUR CITIZENS ACADEMY! The 2022 Citizens Academy will be held on Wednesday evenings, beginning on September 28 and running through November 9, 2022 from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm. The program, which enjoys great success across the country and internationally, is designed to give participants an understanding of select areas of operation of the Clinton Township Police Department and a working knowledge of what these aspects of law enforcement entail. The Department follows the philosophy of Community Policing and is committed to developing partnerships with the public. The Citizens Police Academy provides an opportunity for the public to develop direct lines of communication with the police department. Areas of instruction include narcotics trends, K-9 demonstrations, cyber-security and identity theft, crime scene investigation, motor vehicle stops and other areas of interest.
