C O M Happy INDEPENDENCE day! t h e h u n t e r d O n c O u n t y y M c a I S h e r e F O r t h e c O M M u n I t y The Hunterdon County YMCA is welcoming more people back into their facilities! To welcome new and returning members, the HCY is offering a Welcome Back membership special. Full Facility membership benefits include indoor, outdoor and virtual fitness classes, fitness centers, use of the indoor Deer Path Branch pool and outdoor Camp Carr pool, evenings and weekends. Members have use of both branch locations, the Deer Path Branch, 144 West Woodschurch Road, Flemington and Round Valley Branch, 1410 Route 22 West, Annandale. In addition, Full Facility members receive the best rates for adult and youth programs, including summer camp. Summer day camp is offered at YMCA Camp Carr in Clinton Township and Sports & Enrichment Camp at the Deer Path Branch in Flemington. Pre-Kamp for 3-5 year-olds is held at the Y Child Learning Center at the Round Valley Branch. At Y day camps, kids develop skills, self-confidence, new friendships and a sense of belonging – all while having fun. In addition to camp, the Y offers swim lessons, sports, dance, karate, and more. Safety is the Y's number one priority and they are following public health guidelines to ensure a safe place where everyone can get back to focusing on what matters most: health, family, and community. The Hunterdon County YMCA has been strengthening the Hunterdon County community since 1903. Today, the YMCA is one of the largest not-for-profit community service organizations in the county and a premier provider of wellness, aquatics, childcare, camp and family programs. More information about the YMCA can be found at www.HCYMCA.org. c r I M e S t O P P e r S O F h u n t e r d O n c O u n t y www.CrimeStoppersHunterdon.com The following is third in a series of articles about Crime Stoppers of Hunterdon County, a community-based partnership between the community, the media, and law enforcement. Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers (HCCS) pays cash rewards to catch criminals! Yes… cash rewards are paid for anonymous tips relating to criminal activity, and success relies on having the funds to offer those rewards. So, where does the cash come from to pay tipsters? As a non-profit organization operated by a board of dedicated volunteers who donate their time and effort in the fight against crime, HCCS is totally funded by contributions from businesses and private individuals, and does not receive any funding from governmental agencies. Everyone involved shares the common goal of insuring that Hunterdon County is as safe and secure as possible, and supports law enforcement in preventing criminal activity such as Fentanyl-infused drugs, vehicle theft, assault, arson, burglary, homicide, sexual assault, terrorism, forgery, insurance fraud, illegal drugs and bank fraud. How are those funds raised? HCCS holds an annual fundraiser event, open to anyone to enjoy a fun night out in support of a good cause. This year, Mary Melfi, the Hunterdon County Clerk, is being honored for all she and her office do for Hunterdon County residents. And… several law enforcement personnel who have distinguished themselves with exemplary detective work will be presented with the Crime Stopper of The Year award. The Country/Western-themed event, named "Round 'Em Up," is being held at Beaver Brook Country Club in Annandale on Thursday, September 8, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Dr. D will be on hand with a bit of country music. Also planned is a silent auction, tricky tray, 50/50 raffle, heavy passed hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, patriotic opening ceremonies, and of course, an introduction to Mary Melfi, and many representatives from Hunterdon County law enforcement. Cost is $75.00 per person, and sponsorship opportunities are available. As a 501(c)(3) corporation, financial contributions to HCCS are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
