We recently received a press release that started with the following, "Good morning, Bar Louie is rolling out new happy hour deals and daily specials in Clinton Township! The Original Gastrobar is now offering Elevated Brunch, Beer Night and more limited-time offers. We'd greatly appreciate your help in getting the word out about these exciting specials!" Hmm, I thought, I've never heard of this "Bar Louie" and – it's remarkable that they managed to get a liquor license in Hunterdon County – a unicorn if ever there was one. It went on to say, "Bar Louie is revamping its lively, social atmosphere in Clinton Township with new happy hour deals and daily specials! Starting today, guests at Clinton Township's Bar Louie, located at 17460 Hall Road, Ste. 152, can take their Gastrobar experience to a whole new level with these delicious, wallet-friendly specials, available for a limited-time." It then listed a dozen or so happy-hour specials that sounded quite good – it sounds like a fun place, too! Too bad that it's located in Clinton Township, Michigan, and not Clinton Township, New Jersey. I got a laugh out of Blake, the PR person who sent it to me, and promised I'd pass on the news. So, if you're ever in Clinton Township, MI, by all means please do stop by Bar Louie and tell them that the Clinton Township Newsletter sent you! It's flattering that various businesses, and professionals in Clinton Township, MI (or, rather, their PR agencies) deem this publication to be a fine outlet in which to run their articles. The last time this happened, we received a multi-page press release with accompanying photos. I let them know their mistake, and the woman who sent it said, "Oh wow – my mistake – sorry! You have a great publication!" We will take our compliments wherever we can get them! And, if you've ever been to Clinton Township, Michigan, please drop us a line and let us know what you think of the place. (Do they also have a beautiful Red Mill nearby, wonderful residents, and excellent schools?) In real news, the United States has just passed the one-million mark for deaths from Coronavirus (currently at 1,026,109). According to www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us, the number of cases so far is 84,066,379, deaths is at 1,026,109 and, thankfully, the number of people who have recovered is at 81,163,689. The stock market is going insane this week and Elon Musk is getting cold feet about the prospect of buying Twitter. If he doesn't, he'll walk away from the deal owing them one-billion dollars for a breakup-fee, which sounds a lot more painful than having "your friends collect your records and then change your number". I guess he doesn't need that though, and now Twitter's just a company that he used to know. (By the time you read this it could be a done-deal, and he could have bought it anyway). Two-time Tony award-winning actress Patty Lupone just cursed out an audience member yesterday for not properly wearing their masks (all Broadway theaters in NYC have extended the current mask requirement through at least May 31, 2022). It seems that people are becoming (or continuing to become?) unhinged. Let's get together at Bar Louie to discuss it. In the meantime, I hope you all have a blessed, peaceful Father's Day. I love you, Dad!! -Julie Flynn DAYS TO KEEP IN MIND Wednesday June 1 National "Say Something Nice" Day (!)
