Please watch www.SBES365.org and our Facebook page for more details! On Sunday, May 15, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, South Branch Emergency Services (SBES) invites the community to visit all four of its stations during the organization's first open house. Volunteer and career EMTs, paramedics, and rescue associates will demonstrate the skills and tools they use to save lives. Attendees of all ages can take part in hands-on activities, have their blood pressure checked in a free screening, and learn how to properly fit a life jacket for summer safety – those who have life jackets are welcome to bring them. "Our organization exists to provide excellent emergency medical and rescue services to the communities we serve, and we tailor our services, equipment, and approach to meet the unique characteristics of North Hunterdon County," said SBES Chief Frank Setnicky. This includes rescue and water rescue services because its service area includes major roadways and waterways, including Round Valley Reservoir. SBES has its own training center, which insures that all personnel, both career and volunteer, receive rigorous and cutting-edge training close to home. Keeping first responders healthy is critically important and SBES has a rehabilitation team charged with that responsibility. SBES was formed with the 2020 merger of Clinton First Aid and Rescue Squad and High Bridge Emergency Squad, then grew when Hampton Emergency Squad and SBES joined forces in January 2022. "Because all of this happened during the pandemic, this is the first chance we've had to invite residents from all of our communities to visit every station that now serves them," Setnicky said. "Anyone who visits all four stations during our open house will gain an excellent understanding of all that we do," said SBES Volunteer EMT and Vice President Melanie Sloyer, who helped organize the event. They will also receive a prize, while supplies last. Stopping by the open house also provides a wonderful opportunity for anyone who has ever considered volunteering to get a sense of the many ways to volunteer and talk to current volunteers. "Please bring your questions!" Sloyer said. Here is a list of locations and events: Station 1, Clinton: Rescue demonstrations and equipment. 48 Old Highway 22, Clinton NJ 08809 Station 2, Round Valley: Water rescue demonstrations and displays of boating equipment.
