C3Q: Since the invasion and attacks began in late February, many people have been moved by the tragedy, the heroism, and the need, in Ukraine. While the humanitarian crisis is still ongoing, we are immensely proud of the immediate efforts and people who have organized to help in whatever way they could, and of the heart of service that exists in our community. Many local donations fed into and joined larger efforts to increase speed and efficiency, especially in terms of shipping. We wanted to recognize some of the local efforts and mobilization, and hope that efforts continue. #standwithukraine Personal Note: I am 50% Ukrainian; my grandparents were first generation immigrants who grew up in Newark. My grandfather, Steve Yacus, later moved to Lebanon in Clinton Township, where he lived for over twenty years on Old Mountain Road, and was very active in the Ukrainian American Veterans, shipping hospital equipment to Ukraine throughout the 1990's. Even though we are two generations removed from immediate family in Ukraine, my own heart is profoundly moved to action, and I've seen so many friends and acquaintances of Ukrainian or other nearby heritages, who have felt the same. #slavaukraini The situation remains dire, and further opportunities to help can be found through organizations such as Unicef, the IRC, Red Cross, Jose Andres' World Central Kitchen, and Razom for Ukraine, among others. https://razomforukraine.org/ n Rachel Sprague, a resident of Clinton Township, has a degree in journalism from Rutgers. With her husband Russell, Rachel is raising two young children in the Clinton Township School District. She thinks that Clinton Township is a delightful place to live.
