With spring around the corner, now is the perfect time to start
thinking about Open Houses! Hosting an Open House is a great way to sell
your home, as over 90% of buyers use Open Houses as a way of visiting homes
they are interested in.
This list of Do's and Don'ts will help you make the most of your Open
House.
• Don't attend your own Open House event. Visitors will feel uncomfortable
exploring, asking questions and speaking freely about your home if you're
present. Plus, respect visitors with allergies or fear of animals by removing
your pets as well.
• Do pay attention to your home's smells. Dust. Vacuum. Take out
the trash. Clean the fridge. Remove the litter box. Shampoo your rugs. Most
homebuyers equate clean smells with a well-maintained home.
• Don't forget to edit every room. Remove clutter and excess furniture.
Make the home as accessible and spacious looking as possible.
• Do invite your neighbors! They're great ambassadors for your neighborhood
and your property. After visiting your home, they may recommend it to friends
or family members who want to move to the area.
