Jennifer Walker, a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Earth
and Planetary Sciences at Rutgers University with a BS in Earth and
Ocean Sciences at Duke University and a Ph.D. in Oceanography at
Rutgers University, will present on Sea-level rise. Soon there will be
more ocean and less beach for New Jerseyans. Sea levels are rising faster
in New Jersey than the global average. The rate of rise is accelerating,
putting coastal and low-lying areas in New Jersey at increased risk from coastal
flooding and storms. This talk will describe the current state of sea-level change
in New Jersey, including the causes of past and present sea-level rise, adaptation
and mitigation measures, and projections for the future. For more information
