Girl Scout Seniors Sanjana Mandadi and Cami Plaxe have earned a Silver Award for their cookbook project benefiting clients o f t h e N o r t h H u n t e r d o n F o o d Pantry. Their goal was to create simple recipes using items typically available at the food pantry to make it easier to prepare meals. The girls tried several of the recipes to test the instructions and also make sure that they tasted good. They were pleased to find that they did. Once it was finalized, they made hard copies and also shared the recipes in digital format with the food pantry so it could be distributed to clients. Did you know that an estimated 59 million American women living today have been Girl Scouts? The list includes a number of famous females including Venus and Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, Vanessa Hudgens, Queen Latifah and Martha Stewart as well as 76 percent of female U.S. senators and 52 percent of female U.S. representatives. The Girl Scout experience is about so much more than just cookies and camping. We are also committed to learning new things, making friends and giving back to the community. In Clinton Township, our service unit is always looking for new members and parent volunteers. Please email us at gshnjserviceunit81@gmail.com for membership information.
