Analysis Lists County School Systems
As Second Highest In The Entire Nation.
Hunterdon County has received additional national
recognition of its special qualities, with the
U.S. News & World Report's Annual Healthiest
Communities Report listing the County as one of
the top healthiest countries in the nation, as well
as second in the entire country for education,
Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners
Director Susan J. Soloway has announced.
Director Soloway stated, "We all know
Hunterdon County is a special place. It is
why we choose to live here. However, to continually
have independent sources, this time the US News
and World Report, verify the quality of life in our
county is a true recognition of the efforts of officials
at all levels of government and our community
leaders."
The U.S. News & World Report, in conjunction
with the Aetna Foundation, recently listed
Hunterdon County as the fifteenth healthiest
county in the nation, and ranked the county's
school systems as the second highest in the
entire country, earning a 94.9 score out of
100 in scoring on the on-line magazine's list
of Top 25 School Systems.
Soloway noted, "Various respected entities have
consistently named our County as the healthiest,
safest, and one of the best places for a child to get an
education. They may be telling us what we already
know, but it is great to hear it from outside sources."
Soloway pointed out, "A recent report by the
University of Wisconsin Population Health
Institute, that was funded by the Robert
Wood Johnson Foundation, determined that
Hunterdon County is the healthiest county
in New Jersey.
And a report by 24/7 Wall Street, a financial
news company, has listed the county as
one of the twenty best places to live in the
entire country, based on the United Nations
Development Program's Human Development
Index.
Additionally, one of the most significant
findings has been by the international
nonprofit 'Save the Children Fund' that
recognized Hunterdon County as the Safest
County in America to raise children.
Recently, the leadership and dedication of
our municipalities has also been recognized
when Safewise.com, an on-line resource that
analyzes safety around the nation, announced that
Clinton Township, Raritan Township, and
Readington are among the 50 Safest towns
in New Jersey, and further placing Raritan
among the top 100 safest towns in the United
States."
Soloway concluded, "These latest reports on
health and education are such good news, and
they reinforce the successful work being done
throughout Hunterdon County by the many
people engaged in our communities. I thank and
congratulate all involved in helping to make
Hunterdon County a special place to live."
