The pilot of the "A Brush with Kindness" program was in July of this year, and involved a large group of volunteers who gardened, cleaned, and provided small repairs for low- to moderate – income homeowners. RVHFH is seeking volunteers who are interested in providing relief to those suffering from hurricane damage, and who are physically able to perform home clean-ups and small repairs. For information on how to volunteer, please visit https:// rvhabitat.org/individual-volunteer/. If you or someone you know has been impacted by Hurricane Ida and would like assistance with clearing items out of the home, sanitizing, shop vacuuming, brush cleanup and other small repairs, you can find the ap- plication at www.rvhabitat.org/hurricane-ida-relief. To return completed applications, please: Scan or take a photo of completed application and email to: homeownerservices@rvhabitat.org – OR – mail completed applications to P.O. Box 330, Pluckemin, NJ 07978 – OR – drop com- pleted applications off in person to the Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 110 North Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835. The Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore is also offering an option for shoppers to purchase ReStore gift cards for families in need. Gift cards will be distributed to these families to purchase furniture, house- hold items and home repair items. Families and homeowners in need may also stop by the ReStore in person, where they will be offered donated home repair and relief items for free, such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, paper towels, and cleaning and laundry supplies. In early September the ReStore hosted a Fill the Truck donation drive in the parking lot. The truck was filled with non-perishable food items, sham- poo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, baby food, laundry supplies and bottled water. All donations made was given to local food pantries in Somerset and Hunterdon Counties. Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity aims to build homes, com- munities and hope through affordable housing. RVHFH feels it is their duty to serve and improve the lives of those living in the community in any way possible, especially when homes are devastated by natural disasters. The programs mentioned above are open to anyone living in Somerset and Hunterdon counties, and RVHFH will be doing whatever they can to provide the services necessary. Flags for Heroes Project 2021 October 31-November 14 New Jersey Water Authority Property, Halstead Street, Clinton We all know a hero – let's honor them together! Maybe your hero is a family member, a friend, or a neighbor who is a first responder, or who currently serves in the United States military or is a veteran. Maybe you know a person who did something wonderful for those who were in need, or in a bad situation. Perhaps your hero is one who has tirelessly worked through the pandemic or the recent Hurricane Ida, to help others in some capacity. Maybe there's a group of heroes that you wish to honor or, perhaps your hero is in a category of their own. The Sunrise Rotary of Clinton wants to hear about these heroes, and to honor them this Fall. All heroes will receive a flag with a medallion with your hero's name, and the flags will be in place for ten days. Donation Levels: RED $150 Includes flag and medallion provided to you after the event, and your name will be listed for six months on Social Media WHITE $100 Includes flag and medallion provided to you after the event BLUE $50 Includes medallion provided to you after the event For more information and to donate and have a flag flown in your hero's name, please visit: www.ClintonSunriseRotary.org. Those who buy a costume will get a Spooky Coupon! The shop will hold a Trunk-or-Treat Event on Saturday, October 30 from 2:30 to 5:30 pm! Everyone is encouraged to wear their costumes, and children can paint small pumpkins, bring their treat bags, and safely trick-or-treat in the shop's parking lot. The shop is also holding a Denim Sale that runs through October. 31, offering a variety of jeans and other denim items! Two new fall missions have been launched by the shop. One aims to help the children of Afghan refugees and the other will benefit the homeless. In the mission called "Together We Can Make a Difference," the thrift shop is partnering with the nonprofit Catholic Charities, and holding a children's clothes drive for the children of refugee families from Afghanistan, now living in New Jersey. For the new "Sleep-N-Quarters Mission," the thrift shop is teaming with the nonprofit Safe Harbor, a facility for the homeless in Easton.
