Our purpose is to encourage students to acquire the wonderful lifetime habit of independent reading. The summer reading requirements for incoming sixth, seventh and eighth grade students, can be found on the CTMS webpage. On the left hand side under the heading, Recent News, links are listed for the assignments. What Parents Can Do: • Aim for twenty minutes a day and stress the importance of summer reading with your child • Make reading exciting; don't think of it as a chore • Create a reading list • Create a no TV or electronic game time during part of each day • Join a summer reading program at your local library • Keep a supply of reading materials around the house • Go to the library regularly • Ask your child questions about the books s/he is reading • Pick a favorite author or series and read all the books • Listen to books on tape while traveling • Model reading Clinton Township School District Mission Statement: The Clinton Township School District, in partnership with the community, achieves excellence for each child by ensuring a meaningful and challenging educational experience in a supportive environment; developing life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens. Dear Families and Staff, We hope this letter finds you well and that you're enjoying your summer! Although schools are closed for the summer for our students, several programs and events will be taking place. Please see the list below for information regarding summer activities, building hours and contact information. ● Summer Fundations for current K, First and Second Grade students is virtual from July 12 through August 19 (Monday through Thursday) ● All buildings office hours are between 8:00 am - 2:00 pm (Monday through Thursday) ● Summer Lunch Pickups are on Mondays, 12 - 1:00 pm, CTMS (Door D2) ● The next Board of Education Meetings are on: July 26 and August 23 ● New Staff Orientation August 16 and 17 ● Summer mailings from each building will be sent the week of August 23 ● Buildings open to staff on August 23 ● New Student Visitation/Tours will be held August 25. This is for students new to the district ● August 30 and 31 - Staff Days in the district ● August 31 - OPEN HOUSE - Visitation Day schedule will be included in the building mailing ● First Day of School for students is Wednesday, September 1 - this is an early dismissal day Please call your building to confirm that you are able to enter the office due to changing summer schedules.
