Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey council (GSHNJ) recently recognized
two Service Unit 81 volunteers who were nominated by their peers to receive
Adult Achievement Awards. Both recipients received an award, lawn sign and
Girl Scout merchandise.
The Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Michelle Odendahl.
This award is unique to GSHNJ and recognizes a volunteer for outstanding
performance in their first year of service. Michelle became a co-leader of Junior
Troop 80907 in her first year. She has since gone on to also form and co-lead
a troop of Kindergarten Daisies that took all ten girls on the waiting list in the
Fall of 2020. Michelle was instrumental in keeping both troops active through
the pandemic.
The Appreciation Pin was presented to Colleen Harris. This award was
founded by Girl Scouts USA in 1976. Colleen has been the service unit publicity
manager for three years. Her articles improve visibility within the community
and promote the achievements of local members. She has also assisted with
other service unit communication and participates in team planning meetings
throughout the year.
Girl Scouts relies on volunteers. This year's Service Unit 81 Adult
Achievement Award winners are just two of many in Clinton Township and
Lebanon Borough who dedicate countless hours to planning engaging activities
that build a girl's character and confidence. For more information, email us

Achievement Award winners.
