N o r t h H u n t e r d o n Thrift Shop invites the community to find lots of bargains this month at its Overstock Thrifty S h o p , i t s F a t h e r ' s D a y Mini-Sale and at its Spring & Summer Sale! Also, Shop Manager Danielle Banes reports that the shop's big Soles4Souls Shoe Drive has met the shop's goal of collecting donations of 5,000 pairs of shoes during March and April to help others in less-developed countries! The nonprofit shop, at 51 County Road 635 (Charlestown Road) in Union Township, is giving all the shoes to Soles4Souls, a nonprofit, international micro-enterprise program, organized in this area by Cokesbury United Methodist Church. S4S distributes shoes and clothing worldwide to create sustainable jobs and provide relief to those in need. The shop thanks all those who donated shoes to this mission and helped the shop meet its goal. Clinton United Methodist Church runs the shop, all proceeds support the church's mission and ministries, and many church members and attendees donated shoes. Ms. Banes said she especially thanks Church Administrative Assistant Sandi Graham and church members Dick and Elaine Peete and Don and Jane Treece for transporting many bags of shoes from the church office to the shop, and she thanks church member Mary Fitzpatrick for organizing a shoe drive at her workplace. Also, Ms. Banes said the shop is very grateful to Branchburg podiatrist, Dr. Brandon Zuklie, and an employee in Dr. Zuklie's office, Renee McFadden, who organized a shoe drive in that office to add to the shop's collection. The shop will continue to collect shoes of all types, conditions and sizes for donation to Soles4Souls. The shop's current mission, a Diaper and Baby Items Drive to support single parents through the nonprofit Friendship Center for New Beginnings in Flemington, continues through June 30. Donations of new, unopened packages of Pampers and Huggies diapers, particularly sizes 5 and 6, and brand-new baby items, such as bottles, pacifiers and teething and bath toys are being sought. The shop will use the baby items to create Baby Shower Baskets for the Center's clients. Those who donate 16 or more diapers will receive a $5 coupon. These items can be dropped off during shop hours, after calling the shop at 908-735-0177, or can be dropped off at the Clinton United Methodist Church office at 10 Halstead Street in Clinton. After hours, they can be left at the church office porch by the ramp door. The shop's Overstock Thrifty Shop, a big clearance sale of clothing, shoes, books and much more upstairs is open through June 19. Shoppers can buy 5 clothing items for only $1, and shoes are $2 per pair or 5 pairs for only $8. Throughout June, the shop will hold a Father's Day Mini-Sale, featuring a Buy 1, Get 1 Free Sale of all men's clothes, including designer clothing. The Spring & Summer Sale on the main floor downstairs includes capris, spring jackets, swimsuits, summer dresses, tank tops, sandals and many more items. A Christmas in July Sale will be held from June 30 to July 31. During June, the shop seeks donations of Christmas and Halloween items, Father's Day items, jeans, kids' clothing and high school and college supplies, including gear for dorm rooms and apartments. The shop accepts donations of clean, good-quality clothing and home goods in a contact- free process and by appointment only by calling the shop at 908-735-0177.
