Hunterdon Medical Center depends heavily on regular volunteer blood donors to maintain an adequate and safe blood supply. "Giving blood is the most generous act of kindness that one human being can do for another. When you give blood, you save lives. Blood is used for accident victims, newborn babies and their mothers who need a transfusion, people undergoing surgery, patients receiving treatment for cancer and other diseases," states Cathy Conroy, Blood Donor Recruiter at Hunterdon Medical Center. To be eligible to donate blood a person must be at least 17 years of age, be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call Hunterdon Medical Center at: 908.788.6405. m e a l s O n W h e e l s i n h U n t e r d O n , i n C , Share the Love with Vulnerable Seniors This Year! Meals on Wheels in Hunterdon celebrates the volunteers who keep our organization running, keep our communities safe, and provide services that otherwise would not exist. Volunteers demonstrate care and compassion through working together to bring about positive change. Volunteering reveals that the value of one individual act multiplied by the power of many enables us to thrive together. The third week of April was National Volunteer Week established by Presidential Proclamation in 1974 to highlight the various opportunities available for those interested in volunteering. Meals on Wheels in Hunterdon recognizes the invaluable contributions made by individuals who volunteer for our organization and community. They play an indispensable role by committing to changing lives by supporting the missions of many non-profi ts. "Our volunteers are the strength of our agency. We couldn't do what we do without our amazing volunteers," said Regina Hlasney, Executive Director. We encourage anyone looking for new opportunities to consider the value of volunteering and supporting local non-profi ts.
