Also, to help single moms and dads, the nonprofit shop, at 51 County Road 635 (Charlestown Road) in Union Township, is holding a big Diaper Drive along with a drive to collect donations of new baby items. These missions started in April and will continue through June 30. A t t h e k i d - f r i e n d l y M o t h e r ' s D a y Extravaganza, families can have fun in a safe setting while shopping and preparing for Mom's big day. The event at the shop will feature an outside tent sale with everything costing $2 or less, an indoor $12 Bag Sale, and a Buy 1, Get 1 Free Sale in the front room downstairs. Free snacks and kids' activities will be available upstairs and, for safety, only four children will be allowed at each station. Kids can make gifts and cards, and can get photos taken with their moms. Everyone at the shop must wear face masks and follow safety protocols. For its Diaper Drive mission, the shop is asking the community to donate new, unopened packages of Huggies and Pampers diapers, and sizes 5 and 6 are especially needed. Those who donate a package of 20 or more diapers will receive a $5 off coupon for purchases at the shop. The shop is also collecting donations of brand-new baby items, such as bottles, bibs, pacifi ers, changing pads, feeding items and toys, to be put into Baby Shower Baskets. All the diapers and baskets will be donated to the clients of the shop's partner in the mission, the Friendship Center for New Beginnings in Flemington. According to the organization's website, the center is "a Christian nonprofi t outreach ministry to those facing an unplanned pregnancy and a resource center for single parents." The diapers and baby items can be dropped off during shop hours, after calling the shop at 908.735.0177. Or they can be dropped off at Clinton United Methodist Church offi ce at 10 Halstead Street in Clinton and, after hours, can be left on the porch by the ramp door. The church runs the thrift shop and all proceeds support its missions and ministries. The shop thanks all those who donated shoes to the shop's recent Shoe Drive Mission! The shoes were donated to the nonprofi t Soles4Souls to help others in less-developed countries. The shop will continue to collect shoes of all types, conditions and sizes for donation to Soles4Souls. The shop accepts donations of clean, good-quality clothing and home goods in a contact-free process, and by appointment only by calling the shop at 908.735.0177. For details of this process, visit the shop's Facebook page or its website at: www.SentForOthers.org. We at United Way of Hunterdon County continue to respond to and recover from community needs exacerbated by COVID-19. Together with our community partners, our donors and our volunteers we continue to reimagine and relaunch our core programs including Holiday Hands, VITA Free Tax Preparation, Thriving Communities and Financial Coaching and identify new ways to help rebuild our community. Together we will come through this health and economic crisis stronger and better prepared to create a more just and equitable Hunterdon County. Hope begins with a small gesture that may only last a minute but often changes a life, and the outpouring of generosity from those within our community shows us that we aren't alone in this belief. For this we are grateful to all of you, our neighbors, and our friends. Find out more about UWHC at: www.UWHunterdon.org.
