Springtime is fantastic in New Jersey – after every long, cold winter, it feels like we deserve it. The blossoming trees amaze me with their breathtaking color, like sprays of confetti flung about for nature's spectacular party that ends much too soon. On a different note, by now I'm hoping that a lot of you are getting vaccinated. We haven't yet been able to get the vaccine for my mother and my mother-in-law, and my husband and I are not yet eligible, so we're waiting until it's our turn. I try to stay positive in this column but I must admit that the rollout of these vaccines and the Hunger Games type competition to get them has made me feel frustrated. Hopefully all will be better and everyone will be fully vaccinated soon. This month also marks a full year since we let you know about the passing of Ruth Keesing (who, with her husband Fred, was the original owner of this publication). In one of our last conversations, she said to me, "Well Kiddo, it looks like you're on your own; I'm not going to be able to help you now." She then asked, "So, what are you going to do with my column?" I suggested that since I have many years of her columns in my files, maybe I should run her previous columns for a year? "Oh that sounds like a great idea, Yes, do that" she responded with as much joy as she was capable of in her rapidly declining state. So dear readers, that's what I've done... this issue will have been a full year of Ruth's archived columns. So, what now? One reader suggested I put together a book of Ruth's writing, with the permission of her children Sally and Steven, of course. That sounds like a great idea but maybe a huge undertaking as well. One of my children suggested that I ask readers to send in columns of their memories of growing up in Clinton Township – I love that idea too. What are your thoughts? I often use the word "we" when referring to this publication, but that's sort of a "royal we". However, "we" can also refer to, in no particular order: you, our loyal readers, our advertisers, who keep us in business, our contributors, who keep this publication relevant, my mother, who keeps me from using grammar incorrectly, our printers, who enable us to publish the issue that you are now holding, USPS, who gets it into your mailbox, and Linda Siegel, who ensures that our website, with about eight years of archives as well as each current issue, is always running smoothly. When I first started working at CTNL, I remember phoning many local people and various non-profits and asking (begging) for any current event information they might be able to provide. Since turning CTNL from a one-color piece to a full-color publication, not having enough content to fill these pages is much less of a problem. I'm thrilled that not only are we able to highlight the events and missions of our fantastic schools, non-profits, religious groups, scouts, Municipal and Rec. departments, and projects of local residents, but we also have a lot of information about some of our local small businesses, as well as advice for your best physical and mental health, law advice, and tips to keep your home as safe and sound as possible. We always love hearing from you so, please feel free to email us (me) with any questions or comments you may have. And, as we always say, our advertisers support us, so please help us by supporting them! I've often called myself Clinton Township and Hunterdon County's biggest self-appointed cheerleader, and that's not just lip-service. I really love it here, and my family and I plan to stay as long as we can afford to, fingers crossed.(!) If you're new to Clinton Township, welcome! You have found the best place on earth. I wish you and your families a Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Earth Day, and a Healthy Spring Season! Julie Flynn
