These laws establishing a venison donation program process, along with the Food Bank Good Samaritan act, helped pave the way for the Hunters Helping the Hungry Program. The United Bow Hunters of New Jersey (UBNJ) provided much needed support for the above measures. A year later a few hunters organized Hunters Helping the Hungry, Inc. HHH is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the help of the State Federation of Sportsmen Clubs, and support from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife. HHH raises funds and coordinates efforts by butchers, hunters and food banks throughout NJ. We're always looking for ideas, partnerships and volunteers to help in many ways. Funds from HHH only pay for venison donated by hunters. HHH does not pay for any municipal depredation hunts or farmer depredation hunts. Many farmers and corporations do support HHH through generous donations or allowing hunters to hunt their property or requiring hunters who hunt their property to donate deer through this program. Clinton Township Girl Scout Troop 80790 recently earned their Silver Award for an educational project about service dogs. "Service Dog Etiquette" includes a website (https://mtsmart2025.wixsite.com/ servicedogs), a video narrated by each of the four girls in the troop, and printables. The girls explain how to properly interact with seeing eye dogs, police dogs and therapy dogs in public. They also identify what different types of working dogs do, what breeds are most often chosen for this work, where they're trained, and what tasks they're most suitable to help with. The information is helpful for everyone, but can also be used by any Girl Scout troop to earn a badge virtually. Please email us at: gshnjserviceunit81@gmail.com if you're interested in becoming a leader or to request that your daughter be added to the waiting list. We are always looking for new members and parent volunteers. Information about our service unit is also available at our website: www.GSHNJ81.com. t h e F l e M i n g t o n F o o d P a n t r y – h e l P u s h e l P o t h e r s The Flemington Area Food Pantry, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, provides food and personal care items to needy Hunterdon County families regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background. We are located across the parking lot from the front entrance of the Flemington WalMart. Food insecurity is a national problem. In Hunterdon County, of 126,000 residents, an estimated 5,000 have income below the poverty level. Many of these residents, including children and infants, don't get enough to eat without some form of assistance. The Flemington Area Food Pantry depends on the generosity of the Hunterdon County community for its very existence. Without donations of food and funds, the Pantry would not exist. More than 80% of Pantry income is derived from contributions of cash and groceries. The Pantry provides supplemental groceries to approximately 1,200 income qualified Hunterdon County families. You can donate to the pantry by clicking on the Donate button on our website, or mailing a check made payable to the Flemington Area Food Pantry to: Flemington Area Food Pantry, PO Box 783, Flemington, NJ 08822 Volunteers are always needed! Call: 908.788.5568 or visit: www.FlemingtonFoodPantry.org.
