Dear Friends and Supporters, We hope this note finds you well. We at United Way of Hunterdon County continue to respond to and recover from community needs exacerbated by COVID-19. We want to share how together with our community partners, our donors and our volunteers we continue to reimagine and relaunch our core programs including Holiday Hands, VITA Free Tax Preparation, Thriving Communities and Financial Coaching while at the same time identify new ways to help rebuild our community. Together we will come through this health and economic crisis stronger and better prepared to create a more just and equitable Hunterdon County. – Bonnie Duncan, CEO & the United Way Team H o l i d a y H a n d s 2 . 0 The holidays are just around the corner and our Holiday Hands program elves are busy fine-tuning this year's program so we can once again bring cheer to our neighbors in nee, but do so in a safe way. Please consider supporting the program as we anticipate this year to be especially difficult for many more of our neighbors and we want to spread holiday joy to everyone in our community. Adopt a family or individual today! And, if you are shopping for your families online, don't forget to use AmazonSmile at: smile.amazon. com/ch/22-2431065 for your holiday gifts and Amazon donates to United Way of Hunterdon County. #StartWithaSmile Thank you to everyone who completed the 2020 Census and helped Hunterdon County reach second place for the highest number completed in New Jersey (Morris County edged us out for #1)! The State surpassed 2010 rates! A special shout out to Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders for helping us Get Out the Count! Hope begins with a small gesture that may only last a minute but often changes a life, and the outpouring of generosity from those within our community shows us that we aren't alone in this belief. For this we are grateful to all of you, our neighbors, and our friends. In October the Clinton Sunrise and North Hunterdon Rotaries co- sponsored a Road Rally to provide people with an appreciation of the beauty of Hunterdon County. The proceeds will be used for the ongoing community p r o g r a m s o f t h e t w o c l u b s , including: scholarships for local high school students, robotic competitions for Hunterdon County schools, work projects at the Red Mill, tutoring and career guidance for Polytech students, eradication of Polio worldwide and the Dictionary Project, to name just a few. This year's event focused on the southern part of Hunterdon County and participation grew by over four times compared to the first Road Rally held in 2019. There were first, second, and third place winners in each of two categories: transit times closest to a predetermined time-period, and pictures (quality and quantity) on pre-selected topics. All six winners received a bottle of wine donated by The Federal Twist Winery in Stockton. Clinton Sunrise Rotary and North Hunterdon Rotaries would like to acknowledge Paul Muir, Joe Tapp, and Beverly Koehler for their generous sponsorships towards this event. In addition, many thanks to Julie Flynn of the Clinton Township Newsletter for providing the artwork and ads plus the rights to use her artwork on Road Rally flyers that were distributed. Lastly, thanks to the Town of Clinton Fire Department for use of their parking lot. The two Rotary Clubs look forward to enhancing and expanding this Road Race in 2021 in which a different route will be determined to showcase a different part of beautiful Hunterdon County.
