You are invited to weave, over-under-over-under-over- under, adding your creativity to this group project. Provided are some natural weaving materials such as honeysuckle vines, raffia, and long grasses. You could bring something to weave into the loom such as a ribbon, some jute, string, even plastic bags, your imagination is the limit! This Community Loom is for anyone with or without previous weaving experience, ages 2 to 100. The loom is housed in the Hunterdon County Arboretum Gardens, 1020 Highway 31 North, Lebanon, NJ, Clinton Township . It can be found by starting from the parking lot at the Arboretum, walking away from the highway, going through a gate into the fenced in gardens, walking to your right, and following the sign for Wizard Walk. Along with the new Community Loom , the Wizard Walk offers other fun activities! Many people find the rhythm of weaving therapeutic. The mantra over- under-over-under-over-under can be meditative. It has a calming effect, shows you focus, uplifts your mood... relieving stress. Weaving also exercises one's hand-eye coordination, and it's rewarding and fun! Hope to see you weaving. A friendly reminder… Please observe social distancing and wearing-a-mask etiquette while visiting Hunterdon County Parks. About The Summer Of 2020 at HC Parks and Rec: Summer 2020 will be remembered as one of the most unique summers in Parks history! Although traditional summer programming did not occur due to Covid-19, we still were able to provide summer jobs for seven high school and college students, and consequently accomplished a lot of work in the parks. These summer staff assisted with five weeks of virtual summer nature programming, our summer drive-in concert series, and maintenance projects like trail work and sign painting. We were still able to engage with the public while improving the visitor experience at our parks! Thank you to our seasonal staff and the full-time staff who worked with them.
