The Kids' Closet isn't a section of the non-profit thrift shop, located at 51 County Road 635 (Charlestown Rd.), Hampton. It's the shop's new program to supply free children's clothing to help families who are struggling during this time of pandemic and recession. After completing applications, the families will receive up to 5 outfits for school or recreation for each of their children, subject to availability. Available sizes are 2T to 12 and up, for both boys and girls. Applications can be picked up at the local schools, the thrift shop and at the office of Clinton United Methodist Church (CUMC), which runs the shop and all proceeds support its missions and ministries. The church office is at 10 Halstead St., Clinton. Completed forms can be dropped off at the shop or church office or mailed to CUMC at P.O. Box 5331, Clinton, NJ 08809. The box of clothing can either be delivered to the child's school or day care, or picked up curb-side at the shop. For more details, contact the shop manager Danielle Banes at danielle@sentforothers.org. "It's for the kids," Ms. Banes said about the program. "We're here to help in any way we can." Also the Halloween Shop is open upstairs through Oct. 31, and all costumes are on sale for just $5 each. At the Do-It-Yourself Rack, shoppers can find clothes and items to make their own costumes. Those who spend $10 or more get a Trick-or-Treat coupon that can be used on their next purchase. Starting Oct. 1, the Fall & Winter Collection of clothing and accessories will debut downstairs. During its regular hours, the shop will accept donations of clean, good-quality clothing and home goods in a contact-free, curbside process. The shop is currently looking for donations of kids' clothes, especially kids' winter coats, Halloween costumes and items and shoes in any size or condition. The donations are tax-deductible. Shoppers must wear face masks and follow safety protocols. New volunteers are always welcome. Shop hours are Monday, 8:30 a.m. to noon; Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 908-735-0177 or visit the shop on Facebook and Instagram. Troop 80584 painted rocks with inspirational sayings for each other as part of their Sisterhood Journey. Girl Scout Journeys focus on a particular topic and culminate in a Take Action project to make the world a better place. In "Mission: Sisterhood," Senior level Girl Scouts in the 9th and 10th grades expand their networks and strengthen the bonds of friendship to create change. The activities are designed to boost confidence and develop leadership skills. We are proud of these girls for lifting each other up with this activity! Girl Scouts is open to girls from grades K-12.
