This year we are excited to share a new twist on a favorite event – join the Hunterdon Medical Center Auxiliary as we celebrate 'A Culinary Affair goes Virtual!' with a live event on Monday, September 21 from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. "A Culinary Affair" goes Virtual! will feature specialty culinary tips from local chefs, wineries and coffee breweries. Attending guests may create the cocktail and after dinner coffee drink along with us as we participate together, all from the comfort of home. Place your bids on silent auction baskets, including area restaurant gift packages, golf foursomes, and spa packages. Highlights in this years' auction include a Custom four-course dinner for eight people, created by a local caterer that is sure to please and delight. Take a chance at being the lucky winner of a 50/50 cash raffle. Some of the restaurants, wineries and breweries participating in this year's event include: 15 Landsdowne Catering, Black River Roasters, Hunterdon Brewing Co., Metropolitan Seafood & Gourmet, and Old Croton Bar & Grill. Guests have the option of selecting either VIP or General Admission tickets. VIP admission receives a delicious dinner from one of our featured restaurants, a bottle of wine from a local winery as well as a restaurant discount card to participating area restaurants. All registered guests will receive the ingredient list for the cocktail and after dinner drink. Briteside Adult Day Center provides a comfortable, safe, home-like environment with friendly, reliable staff to help older adults (age 55+) in need of supervision to maintain their vitality. W O R K S h O P h E L P S C A N C E R S U R V I V O R S S T AY C O N N E C T E D Thriving & Surviving Workshop is Now Available Virtually to Improve Quality of Life Cancer Thriving & Surviving, a free six-week workshop specifically designed to support the needs of cancer survivors and caregivers is now being offered as a virtual educational experience starting September 2 through October 14. This workshop covers both physical and emotional wellness and offers self-management resources to maximize long term health benefits. Trained facilitators guide participants through an evidence-based process to explore challenges, develop new skills and create action plans that contribute to a greater sense of control over living with or caring for someone with cancer. "Cancer survivors often experience physical, emotional and psychosocial effects from cancer and its treatment long after treatment is over. It's essential that we as healthcare providers continue to help cancer survivors manage and minimize these problems to improve the quality of their lives," states Barbara Tofani, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Assistant Vice President, Outpatient and Ambulatory Services at Hunterdon Medical Center. "We often hear that the most unsettling part of a cancer survivor's experience is when treatment ends and there is the uncertainty of what is next. This is normal and the reason why the Hunterdon-Mercer Chronic Disease Coalition and the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center are collaborating to support the specific needs of cancer survivors," states Bonnie Petrauskas, Regional Coordinator for the Coalition. The workshop series is held every Wednesday from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm starting on September 2 with an introduction on how to navigate the virtual platform and running through to October 14; advanced registration is required and space is limited. At this time, Hunterdon Healthcare will not be allowing visitors, patients, or staff to wear neck gaiters, bandanas, or masks with exhalation valves, including N95s or KN95s, while within any of our facilities. If a patient, visitor, or staff arrives at one of our facilities wearing any of these restricted masks/face coverings, they will be asked to remove the restricted mask/face covering and Hunterdon Healthcare will supply a procedural mask for the person to wear while in the facility.
