C O M It seems appropriate that our parting words to you are given remotely, since that has become the norm for how we communicate. You should be proud of your accomplishments this past year, and especially during these last few months. You found the drive to get up and do your work without us there to motivate you in person. You learned to adapt and problem solve - and even taught us some things about technology! If you can do these things, t h e n h i g h s c h o o l w i l l b e a b r e e z e for you. But just in case you need some advice, here are eight things to remember as you go into High School: We are so incredibly proud of you and all of your accomplishments this year! Best wishes for a very bright future! We will miss you. In the words of William Shakespeare, "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves." – The 8th Grade and Unified Arts Teaching Teams C L I N T O N T O W N S H I P S C H O O L N E W S www.ctsdnj.org As the Clinton Township Middle School Class of 2020 prepares for their graduation, we wish them well in high school and say congratulations to all. We could never have anticipated the changes to our school experience nor the unexpected lessons that came with it. Sometimes the best lessons come from unexpected situations and have long lasting benefits. It is my hope that these lessons include flexibility, patience, and resilience. As I move on to another district, I would like to thank the students of the CTSD as it has been a privilege to serve you in my role as Superintendent. I leave you with a few parting words. Be yourself, stand strong and do what you feel is right in your core. You can never go wrong if you are true to yourself. Best wishes, Dr. Michele Cone, Superintendent of Schools A L e t t e r f r o m Michele Cone, Superintendent of Schools Dear Clinton Township Community Members: Clinton Township School District Mission Statement: The Clinton Township School District, in partnership with the community, achieves excellence for each child by ensuring a meaningful and challenging educational experience in a supportive environment; developing life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens. To Our Graduating Students: This year has been certainly unexpected with challenges and disappointments. While we were unable to end the year together with our usual celebration of your time at CTMS, you have not let the circumstances hold you down. You have risen to the occasion in order to reach this milestone. Robert Louis Stevenson said: "Wherever we are, it is but a stage on the way to somewhere else, and whatever we do, however well we do it, it is only a preparation to do something else that shall be different." As you leave us, we urge you to reflect on your past, take hold of every moment and opportunity, and build your life well. You have had a firm foundation here at CTSD, and we are very proud of you and know that you will do many great things in your life. It has been our distinct honor and privilege to have been your principals. – Ms. Hammond and Mr. Mason "It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are." ~ E. E. Cummings 8. Don't be afraid to fail. 7. Ask questions. 6. Keep reading and writing. 5. Be kind. 4. Get to know your teachers. 3. If you have a problem, find an adult to help you. 2. Trust yourself. 1. Believe. To the CTMS Graduating Class of 2020: "Spread joy. Chase your wildest dreams." ~ Patch Adams "Be bold, be courageous, be your best." ~ Gabrielle Giffords
