S e n d U s Y o u r B i cy c l e H i s to ry ! We're looking for Historic Bicycle Stories & Photos! Share yours on the back of this card or @ bikehunterdon.org Bike Hunterdon, an initiative of HART Commuter Information Services, is looking to the community for stories, photos and memorabilia to showcase bicycling in the history of Hunterdon County. The effort is part of the organization's contribution to the Hunterdon County TriCentennial Celebration next year. "Hunterdon County has a rich bicycling history. We're hoping to document memories that folks may have tucked away but have not been asked about," says Tara Shepherd, executive director. "We hope to learn about the history of bicycle shops & bicycle clubs that may or may not be around any longer or bicycle races that took place." Basically, "any memory of bicycling that someone would like to share," she notes. Preliminary research has revealed that a velodrome (an arena for track cycling), originally located at Madison Square Garden in New York, was reconstructed in Sergeantsville in 1932 and operated until the wood deteriorated from exposure. Anyone with a story to share is encouraged to contact Liz Usmiani or Tara Shepherd at 908.788.5553 to schedule an opportunity to chat, or use the online story form at www.bikehunterdon.org. "We never know the love of the parent until we become parents ourselves." The Benefits of C o l l a b o r at i v e D i v o r c e ~Henry Ward Beecher" by Mary Ann Bauer, Esq. Collaborative Law is the latest alternative to a litigated divorce which often financially and emotionally devastates the family. While each party is represented by an attorney, the focus of the process is cooperation between the divorcing parties, their attorneys and other team members such as mental health and financial professionals. The parties agree that there will not be any litigation and, instead, attend a series of meetings that are goal-oriented to settle the issues that are commonly addressed in the divorce process, such as custody, support and distribution of assets and debts. There are many benefits to collaborative divorce, such as reduced fees, confidentiality, control over the process and outcome and the ability to develop a settlement that is geared toward the best interest of the entire family. It is a holistic approach to divorce.
