Notable events took place as February ended and we rolled into March. CTSD held the 10th Annual Relay for Life on February 28, 2020. The CTSD has raised over $360,000 for the American Cancer Society for cancer research during 10 years of participation in this worthy cause. The week of March 2 marked Read Across America which encouraged students to read. Students celebrated Dr. Suess and reading during the week culminating in school events with guest readers on March 6. Students in the drama club presented Cinderella to a packed house on March 12, 13 and 14 on the stage of the Clinton Township Middle School. Over 70 students performed, sang and danced in this wonderful production. Fun for all! Diversity Night at the Round Valley School celebrated diversity with students and their families on March 19. And, the grand finale of the month, was the Tricky Tray event on March 20! The event raised funds for students while guests enjoyed winning wonderful prizes donated by local businesses, families, and staff. We thank all who support our schools in all of these worthwhile events. From our new preschool team member, Mrs. Patuto: "We have been having a blast with Seuss. We met with student readers from CTMS and had a wonderful storytime. We celebrated reading with Seuss themed crafts and activities each day. The preschoolers are looking forward to some spring theme weeks coming up." From Ms. Monge: "The PSD classroom had a busy start to the month of March. During the first week of March, we celebrated Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss's birthday by doing different crafts and activities, learning new dances, and singing songs. Students dressed up each day of the week to represent a different Dr. Seuss book. The students were happy to have some guest student readers visit from the middle school to read different Dr. Seuss books with us. The students even helped make Green Eggs and Ham! Our classroom is looking forward to celebrating St. Patricks day next week!" From Mrs. Krupnik: "The students enjoyed several busy weeks recently. We had a visit from a dental hygienist where the preschoolers learned how to properly take care of their teeth. We talked about staying away from certain foods, brushing, and flossing our teeth. The children also explored how dentists, doctors, and nurses are important community helpers. We spent the last week celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday! The children enjoyed "The Cat in the Hat" and "Green Eggs and Ham." We are becoming more familiar with rhyming words thanks to the great assortment of Dr. Seuss books." Spruce Run School students and staff thank the PTA and parent volunteers for organizing a fantastic Read Across America Celebration on Friday, March 6, 2020! Patrick McGaheran School Celebrate! April is National Autism Awareness Month! The United States recognizes April as a special opportunity to educate the public about autism. During the month of April at PMG we will be celebrating National Autism Awareness Month, and we invite students and staff to wear BLUE each Thursday in April. This celebration shines a bright light on autism and helps to increase and develop knowledge of autism and share information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Please join Patrick McGaheran School in our effort to inspire compassion, empowerment and hope by recognizing National Autism Awareness Month. Science! Thank you, PTA! Throughout the school year, our PTA has brought additional learning opportunities in a fun and exciting way through assemblies funded by the Clinton Township PTA. The Clinton Township PTA sponsors enrichment programs to enhance the educational experience for the students of all Clinton Township schools each year. The programs are funded by the proceeds of PTA membership dollars and fundraising efforts done throughout the year. In March, PMG students had the opportunity to learn more about science in a fun and exciting way through assemblies funded by the Clinton Township PTA. Special visitors from The Franklin Institute presented the Traveling Science Show on the topic of "Hot and Cold." Sensory Path Grant: Thank you, CTFEE! We are so excited at Patrick McGaheran School that the Clinton Township Foundation for Educational Excellence has funded a sensory path grant at PMG. A sensory path is a colorful, creative and playful way for kids to build connections in the brain that are responsible for the senses including sight, touch, sound, etc., and supports the ability to complete complex, multi-stage tasks. A sensory path will be installed in each grade level hallway for student use. Thank you, CTFEE! K i n d e r g a r t e n R o u n d - U p REMINDER!
