Most juniors are taking the SAT for the first time in March and should be thinking about future careers. If they are unsure, now is a perfect time to shadow someone in that occupation. Many professionals are more than happy to help out! Schedule a few college trips if you haven't already. Spring break is a perfect opportunity to see campuses in action as they take their breaks before our high schools. Sophomores, you should also be thinking about careers. You should not be thinking about testing and worrying about the SAT/ACT yet (and actually, you should never 'worry' about a college admissions test). It is a RARE student that should be taking the SAT or ACT before Feb/March of their junior year. What you can do prior to the PSAT in October of your junior year, is set up an 8-week study plan (we will be offering sessions at our Clinton location – details coming soon) starting in August. Bottom line, do well in school, read often, write often (keep a journal), have fun with friends, eat a balanced diet, and sleep 8 plus hours a night. If you are a parent of a sophomore, book a consult with me before March 15, 2020 and it is FREE. The college admissions, career selection, and financial processes do not need to be stressful or surprising. My 25 years of experiences as a licensed counselor, high school counselor, college academic advisor, and College Board employee allow me to offer services that no other professional in our area can offer. Limited spots available for the high school class of 2022 are now available! Join me and Chris Scalzo from Elevate Wealth Planning for a casual talk over coffee about current topics in college admissions and finances on the following dates: March 26, April 29, and May 27 at The Stone Bean at Riverside Coffee and Tea at 7:00 pm. Please RSVP by sending an email to: nicole@nextstepadvising.com.
