Whether we want to eat healthier, exercise more, or learn a new skill, we all remember to make our personal New Year's resolutions. But what about your home - the place where you'll spend most of your time throughout the year? In the spirit of new beginnings, here are some top home resolutions to tackle in 2020. Declutter your home. Getting rid of clutter is a must in the New Year! It is probably the easiest and cheapest way to feel better about your home. A decluttered home is an organized home. Get rid of those things you don't use or like and bring in things that you need. Create extra space for storage so you can store your items easily without your home looking untidy. This year, use your imagination at creating space in unimaginable places and get your home organized! Make your home more welcoming. Every year we vow to spend more time with the people we love. What better way to do that than making your house friendlier! Add a few bright cushions, get a new rug, and make your home feel cozy and comfortable. It doesn't need to be complicated to make your home more inviting. Work out a system to keep your house clean. Everyone loves a clean home but dreads the actual cleaning! Devise a daily, weekly and monthly plan to keep your house clean. It's best to focus on one type of cleaning at a time such as dusting on one day, sweeping or vacuuming on another. Coming up with a solid plan to keep your home clean could be the best thing you do in the upcoming year! S p e n d s o m e t i m e t o g e t h e r o n h o m e improvement projects. This year is the year to try out some DIY projects! Not only will they improve your place but will also allow you to spend quality time together as a family. Make your house safer. Now that your home is clean and organized, how about some effort into making it safe as well? Ensure that you're not living with a potential fire, health or security risk. Make sure your smoke alarms are working properly and have new batteries installed. If you don't already have one, purchase a fire extinguisher. Also, consider coming up with a plan of action in case an emergency does occur and make sure everyone knows where to go and what to do. Prepare your house to sell. If you've decided that the coming year will be the one to finally sell your home, it's never too early to begin the process. Whether it's a fresh coat of paint or new tile floors, give me a call and I'll help you determine what your home needs to be ready for sale. Get started on projects early because the sooner you can put your home on the market in the New Year, the less competition you'll have. They say home is where the heart is, but a cleaner, better organized and more inviting place to live will definitely work wonders in the New Year. Not all things are blest, but the seeds of all things are blest. The blessing is in the seed." ~ Muriel Rukeyser
