It is with great respect and appreciation for the
Clinton Township Police Department that I share this story
with the Clinton Township Community:
It was a day almost a year ago on November 15, 2018 that I
remember well. It took eight hours for me to get home from a doctor's
appointment in West Orange. Perhaps you recall the surprise snowstorm?
It was disruptive and crippling, to say the least, for our surrounding area.
My story was more than stressful after eight hours in my 2010
Chrysler Van. Finally, at 11:00 pm, I made it home to find my driveway,
sidewalk and ramp covered in snow, denying me access to my home – leaving
me trapped in my van. Oh, by the way I forgot to mention I am a 68 year-
old wheelchair paraplegic.
Here is rest of the story. I am one of those individuals who is disgusted
with the disrespect and harassing behavior that the police have been subject
to. I would direct you to the Police Department's Mission and Value Statement
to: Protect and Serve our Community with Great Courage and Dignity.
Sergeant Jeffery Glennon and a number of additional officers
shoveled and salted my sidewalk then cleaned my ramp for my
safe home. I am so thankful for their help.
I want to get this out to our community as this Holiday Season approaches.
