The eye exams will be provided by the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Project B.E.S.T (Better Eye Health Services and Treatment). Diabetic eye disease is a leading cause of blindness and vision loss, yet early detection makes prevention or treatment possible. Specialists trained in detecting diabetic eye conditions will conduct the examinations. Both insulin dependent and non-dependent individuals with diabetes who are not currently under the care of an eye specialist and who do not have resources to get this service are urged to participate. The event will include a diabetes education fair which will showcase the latest diabetes products and supplies, provide supply give-a-ways, and will even do blood pressure checks. All attendees receiving an eye exam will have their eyes dilated and are required to arrange for a ride home. The Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Management is located at the Wescott Medical Arts Center, 9100 Wescott Drive, Ste. 102 in Flemington. Registration is required by October 10. To register or for more information, please call the Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Management at 908.237.6920. g e T T I n g F I T w I T h T h e n e w C O M e R S !
