Every year, 10 million school-age children suffer from preventable or treatable
visual conditions that contribute to learning, developmental and social problems.
Eye care professionals help ensure that children enjoy clear, properly functioning
vision to help them learn, play and take on new experiences.
Comprehensive eye examinations are a critical step in safeguarding children's
health and well-being, and can mean the difference between success and failure in
school. Much of children's learning during the first six years is visual, yet 86 percent
don't receive an eye exam during that time. Undiagnosed and untreated vision
problems can prevent children from reaching their full potential.
The American Optometric Association recommends eye exams by a
qualified eye doctor at six months of age, at age three and again before starting
school. A simple "eye chart" screening is not enough. Early diagnosis of eye and vision
problems in children may prevent permanent vision loss and prompt treatment can
often correct vision disorders that would interfere with normal development.
Even children with 20/20 vision can have trouble focusing in the distance
and/or while reading a book. The two eyes simply don't work well together. This
can cause multiple issues with concentration, slow reading, learning difficulties and
headaches. During an eye examination many tests are completed to assure that each
eye sees well and they function well together.
A child who sees the world around them clearly is in a better position to excel
in school and their extra-curricular activities.

The One Spirit Festival has been entertaining Hunterdon County for the
past eleven years at the Clinton Community Center (on Halstead Street next to the
library). In essence, we are about that one voice, in the spirit of a community whose
minds are open to more than obvious possibilities.
This event, on September 28 and 29 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, offers a
chance of fun! You may want to get a psychic reading or, perhaps you have a more
serious scientific bend and astrology fits better for you? Palm readers and oracles
are as old as time. Our vendors offer beautiful crystals and hand made jewelry too!
Think holidays! Have you ever seen the eyes of child when they hold a crystal in their
hand? Crafters will display their handiwork from carvings to handmade bags.
For those whose energies are more grounded in CBD oil, healing sounds and
essential oils, we have that too. In the coming autumn/winter season, using essential
oils in a vaporizor, bath or neat can be quite the healing balm. Sound – it's more
important that you can imagine! When you allow the conscious awareness of
sound's healing properties, its beauty begins to resonate at a deeper level. Most of
us simply accept the daily noise intrusions of everyday, but when you utilize specific
tones, the body responds positively. You will, in effect, "change your tune".

VOICE on ONE EARTH.
