SAFE In Hunterdon, a non-profit organization serving those affected by domestic and sexual violence, celebrates over 40 years of serving the community at its annual fundraising gala on Thursday, September 12 from 6:00 – 10:00 pm at Riverside Ballroom at the Lambertville Station Inn, 11 Bridge St. Lambertville, NJ. The event will feature a sit down dinner, entertainment and a live and silent auction. S A F E i n H u n t e r d o n d e l i v e r s f r e e , confidential services and critical support to adults, teens and child victims and cultivates safety, empowerment, healing and social change. The gala, SAFE in Hunterdon's biggest fundraiser of the year, directly benefits individuals and families in our community affected by domestic and sexual abuse. The work of Stephen and Christine Little, who are leaders in the community, will be honored at the event. Christine was formerly President of the SAFE in Hunterdon Board and served on its Board of Directors for five years. She also served as a volunteer court appointed guardian and was the Executive Director of Volunteer Guardianship One-on-One for 11 years. She earned her law degree from Widener University School of Law. Stephen served on the SAFE in Hunterdon board from 2010 to 2015 and was appointed President of the SAFE Board from 2012 to 2015. He also served as a Board Member and Volunteer at the Flemington Food Pantry for six years. Stephen owns Jakes Restaurant with his brother John, Central Wine Merchants and Little Brother Beverage Outlet in Flemington, NJ. He also earned his law degree from Widener University School of Law. "We are extremely pleased to honor Stephen and Christine Little, who have been involved in various ways to help SAFE serve the community and the survivors for many years, and they continue to do so," says Lisa Reed, Gala Committee Chairperson. "They're helping to support our goal to foster safety, empowerment and healing for adults, teens and children in our community." The funds raised by the event on September 12 will be used to raise awareness of domestic violence and support individuals in their journey to maintain physical and emotional safety. With the help of community support and grant funding, SAFE provides access to a 24/7 hotline, safe housing, legal representation, prevention, intervention, counseling and advocacy services for those in need.
