The Clinton Sunrise Rotary is pleased to announce two summertime fundraisers: the 1st Annual Road Rally Duck Hunt scheduled for Saturday, June 22 and the 30th Annual Great Hunterdon Rubber Ducky Race scheduled for Sunday, July 14! The Road Rally Duck Hunt will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 22nd at the South Ridge Community Church. This is our first year for this unique event and excitement is building. "The Road Rally is a fun, family event open to all types of vehicles," stated Joe Tapp, Race Chair. "Rally participants will meet at the South Ridge Community Church parking lot on Route 513 (just past Walmart Plaza) in Franklin Township and follow maps and hints around Hunterdon County to spot and record duck sightings. This is the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon, get some fresh air and view some of the beautiful Hunterdon County scenery. There will be a finish line tailgate celebration – gather your family and friends and join in this fun challenge!" Online registration is available at: www.clintonsunriserotary.org. The Great Hunterdon Rubber Ducky Race will take place on Saturday afternoon, July 14, in downtown Clinton at the falls. Race start is 2:00 pm. "Last year we had a great race outcome," said Lynn Arnold, Rubber Ducky Race Director, "raising over $12,000. We hope to have even more ducks in the race this year and raise even more money for charity!" Individuals can sponsor a duck for $10 and have the opportunity to win one of several great prizes. First prize is a four-day, three-night Walt Disney World Package for two (includes air for two, hotel plus Park Passes) or a trip of equivalent value. Proceeds from this event benefit the American Cancer Society and the Cancer Support Community CNJ. Commercial sponsorships are also available! There are various sponsorship levels ranging from $100 to $2,500. Sponsors can receive quadruple media exposure as, depending on the sponsorship level, they may be highlighted at all four of Clinton Sunrise Rotary's annual events. The major sponsor to date for the 2019 Races is Market Pizza, located in the Stockton Market. https://www.facebook.com/MarketPizza/ "The Clinton Sunrise Rotary has been a viable part of the northern Hunterdon community for many years," stated Christopher Knoll, Clinton Sunrise Rotary President, "and this year we are celebrating our 30th Anniversary! Our members work together to address both the needs of our local community and in the international arena. Locally, we have provided financial support to various community agencies such as the Open Cupboard Food Pantry and the Clinton Police, Fire & Rescue Squads. The club has also provided to the Town of Clinton a Fit Trail in Hunts Mill Park (2015), the Little Free Library (2017) and bike racks (2018) on Allie's Way. In addition, we provide scholarships for local high school students; collaborate with Hunterdon County Polytech to bring the 'Bridging the Gap' program, an educational business skills workshop, to the students; conduct an annual blood drive; contribute to the safety of our children and community by purchasing & donating a 'Speed Caution' sign for the town of Clinton; sponsor a free Fishing Derby for area youth; conduct a Dictionary Project with Clinton Public School and assist local residents in need with emergency funding. Internationally, we sponsor 'Polio Plus' - a Rotary program whose aim is to eradicate polio worldwide; and we support the 'Homes of Hope' project in Ecuador building low-cost housing for single mothers and their families." Funds raised from commercial sponsorships and race entries help to support these projects. Information about both race events and sponsorship opportunities is available on our website: www. It is more than just being an optimist. Positive thinking is a way to approach the stresses we will all face in a more constructive way. You can work on your positive thinking by being aware of your self-talk and how negative or positive it is. Self-talk is that nonstop stream of thoughts going through your head throughout your day. Negative self-talk includes magnifying the bad things that happen in your day, feeling automatic blame when something bad happens, anticipating that the worst will always happen and seeing things only as good or bad, so that only perfection is acceptable. Being aware of the negative thoughts in your head is the first step in becoming a more positive person. Stop yourself and think how you can put a more positive spin on your negative thought. Advice from the Mayo Clinic says, "don't say anything to yourself that you wouldn't say to anyone else." It takes practice, but give positivity a try. "It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside." ~ Maud Hart Lovelace, "Betsy-Tacy and Tib"
