The North County Branch Library in Clinton will host its annual Garden Expo on June 8 from 9:30 am-2:00 pm. Experts in various fields of gardening will be present to answer all your questions. These include the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Hunterdon County; orchid expert Carole Stober of Stony Hill Gardens; cacti and succulents expert Jeff VanNewkirk; Invasive Species Strike Team – a statewide cooperative effort to prevent the spread of emerging invasive species across the state; the Native Plant Society of NJ; the Northwest NJ Beekeepers Assoc. returns with their observation hive with live bees as well as other beekeeping equipment. Learn how to start a hive in even a small backyard. Bees are not just for honey, but for pollination as well! The Clinton Conservancy is working to attract pollinators with gardens around the town. The "Bring a Plant-Take a Plant" swap table returns where plants, seedlings, cuttings, etc., are donated and/or taken (as supplies permit). New this year will be Carnivorous Plants with Connie Deetz and Sandy Gay. Learn how these strange plants lure, trap and digest insects, spiders and even small animals to make up for the nutrient-poor soil in which they grow. The North American Butterfly Assoc. will have display boards and handouts, including a Butterfly Field Guide. Jane Hurwitz will have copies of her book Butterfly Gardening to sell. Lastly, bring home a "spiderette" plant! Make a paper pot and then plant a spiderette, which are the babies that come off a spider plant. While supplies last. Come bring your questions and enjoy the displays at this indoor event! n C B l i B R a R y ' s u p C o m i n g e v e n t s June 4 Gentle Yoga & Meditation w/Jane Shear Tue 12 pm June 5 Small Bus.
