Genealogy, the study of one's ancestors, has become an interest of many in recent years. Evidenced by TV shows tracing the family trees of famous politicians and actors and at home DNA kits that are sold by the thousands every holiday, people want to know who shares their family story and where that story began. Len Yacullo, a Clinton Township resident, has been researching his Italian ancestors for many years. After exhausting the resources he could access from home, Len found the Family History Center at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For the past four years he has been coming to the Family History Center and has found information on family members going back six and seven generations. Len commented, "I don't think people realize how much is available here." Since 1894, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has dedicated time and resources to collecting and sharing records of genealogical importance. Due to cooperation from government archives, churches, and libraries, the Church has created the largest collection of family records in the world, with information on more than 3 billion deceased people. If you would like to find out more about your family history, come and visit the Family History Center, located across the street from Bundt Park at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7 Red Schoolhouse Rd. It is open the first Saturday of every month from 10am-noon and every Wednesday from 10am-1pm and 7-8: 30pm. When you visit, you will find free access to billions of records and friendly staff who are there to answer your questions and guide you in your searching. Come take advantage of this free service offered right here in our community. c R A F T I N G A T F A I T H W E S l E y A N c H u R c H Faith Chapel Wesleyan Church is inviting interested guests to join in once a month for crafting.
