Hunterdon Behavioral Health offers treatment options for co- occurring needs. Mental health and substance use problems are prevalent and serious concerns; however, they are treatable. Mental health problems involve changes in thinking, mood, and/or behavior. Substance use problems involve repeated consequences due to the recurrent use of alcohol and/or drugs. The co-existence of both a mental health and substance use disorder is referred to as co-occurring disorders. According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, an estimated 8.2 million adults aged 18 or older had co-occurring needs in the past year. Hunterdon Medical Center is licensed by the State of New Jersey to treat patients with co-occurring disorders. We treat both the mental health and substance use problems simultaneously, and this leads to better outcomes and is widely considered "best practice" for treatment. Addiction Treatment Services and the Acute Outpatient Program have a multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Nurses and therapists who provide enhanced services for mental health and substance abuse disorders. Treatment is available at Hunterdon Medical Center as well as off campus sites in Washington and at the Pavilion in Flemington. Services are covered by most insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and Self Pay. For more information, call 908.788.6401, extension 5101.
