Celebrating over 80 years in Scouting, Clinton Boy Scout Troop 121 is a high-adventure Scout troop committed to the ideals and values of Scouting. The oldest Boy Scout troop in the Clinton area, the troop is boy-led and adult supervised, meeting every Monday night at the Clinton Presbyterian Church. We backpack, canoe, hike and generally live outdoors one weekend a month. We'd like to invite any boys who are 11 or who have completed the fifth grade (no Cub Scout experience necessary). Are you are interested in the outdoors, in camping, in learning new things and, especially, having fun? Then come visit us! Meetings are on Monday nights from 7:30 - 9:00 pm at the Clinton Presbyterian Church, 91 Center Street in Clinton. If you'd like to join Scouting, come by a meeting or contact Assistant Scoutmaster Randy Zahorchak at: z_randy@hotmail. com for more information. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Hunterdon County has named FSSP co-founders Mr. Kevin Walsh of Lebanon as Grand Marshal for the 2019 FSSP St. Patrick's Day Parade, and Mr. Bernard Gallaher of Clinton Township as Irishman of the Year. Both men will be honored by thousands of spectators and well-wishers at the 6th Annual FSSP St. Patrick's Day Parade and AfterParty in Clinton on Sunday, March 10, and at the FSSP Annual Dinner Dance being held on Saturday, March 2 at the Hunterdon Playhouse in Hampton, where over two hundred Irishmen and Irishwomen will gather to dine, dance and celebrate their Irish heritage. FSSP President Brian Manning paid tribute to both honorees who have been leaders of the Friendly Sons since its inception. "Kevin Walsh and Bernie Gallagher are two of the founding fathers of the FSSP and have done enormous work to make the organization the success it is today. Kevin has been a tireless volunteer for the FSSP and several other community organizations in Hunterdon County. Bernie is a former President of the FSSP and has led a life of service in the public sector and is a US Army veteran. We are hugely proud of both gentlemen and are delighted to honor them and their families this year as part of our St. Patrick's Day Parade festivities." On Sunday March 10 at 3:00 pm, the FSSP will host the 6th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade through the Town of Clinton. The Parade will highlight Irish-American traditions and culture, including five Pipe & Drum bands, along with world class Irish dancers, musicians, singers, public service groups, veterans, vintage cars, canine groups and much more! Parade Chairman, Rich Hall adds, "For the past six years the Friendly Sons have organized the St. Patrick's Day Parade. This has grown to be the largest single-day event in Clinton that is family-friendly and entertaining for all ages, young and old. In 2019 we are continuing our tradition of issuing a FSSP Parade pin commemorating a Hunterdon County landmark. This year it is the Historic Hunterdon County Courthouse in Flemington. The pin will be available for purchase on the day of the Parade." The FSSP are actively seeking sponsorships for this year's events and are hugely appreciative to all the local businesses that have supported us in the past as major Parade co-sponsors, including Provident Bank, Argus Technology, Frey Engineering, Unity Bank, ShopRite Wines & Spirits, Ce:nturyLink, Cryans Tavern, Montrose Molders, The Holiday Inn Clinton, Stone Hill Financial, and Ricoh US. Additional support comes from: Weichert Realtors, The Office of Mr. John Lanza- Freeholder, Hunterdon Healthcare, Kotalic Lawn Doctor, True & Associates, and Drs. Tom & Denise McFadden.
