In 2018, CASA of NJ served 3, 877 foster children. Why is CASA so successful? CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, specifically trains volunteers who are appointed by a judge to advocate for only one child who has been abused and neglected. This helps to ensure that these children do not get lost in an overburdened legal and social service system. With a CASA volunteer dedicated to one child's case, NJ's most vulnerable children have someone speaking up for their best interests in court and in their communities. Every two years, WCTT choses a State-Wide organization to support through fundraising events and contributions in materials and services. WCTT shares CASA's mission and goals of moving these vulnerable children out of the system and into safe, loving, and permanent homes. At the WCTT Daytime General Meeting on Tuesday, March 5, Tracey Heisler, Executive Director, CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren will be speaking on the WCTT and CASA two year partnership at 11:00 am. The WCTT meeting starts at 9:30 am each month on the first Tuesday at the Oldwick Manor, behind the Firehouse. All are invited to attend. WCTT will be hosting a Casino Charity Fundraiser Event at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster on Friday, May 17 at 6:30 pm. It will be a fantastic night with auctions, dinner, open bar, dancing, door prizes, live DJ, Casino Tables and Funny Money included with a ticket purchase! Part of the proceeds will go to CASA, as well as SAFE in Hunterdon and the Tewksbury Rescue Squad. Reserve your tickets by March 22 to get $500 in Funny Money! W C T T N E W S • In December The Women's Club of Tewksbury Township (WCTT) partnered with Little Brook Nursery Home to sponsor an outing for the senior residents and staff to the Hunterdon Hill's Playhouse showing of "Christmas in the Air." The playhouse event was funded by a special grant from Bloomingdale's to the Woman's Club of Tewksbury Township. The grant from Bloomingdale's was granted to support senior sponsored activities. All of the staff and residents enjoyed the energetic and talented entertainers that performed with the live Hunterdon Hills Playhouse Band! • The WCTT partnered with the Boy Scouts of Oldwick Pack 199 and donated and provided Wreaths across America at Fairmount Rural Cemetery in December for all Veterans buried there. What a wonderful event that we were proud to participate in!
