Throughout their 36-year history they have had the privilege of assisting our neighbors in need, with the kind support of Hunterdon County. Operating with a volunteer staff of over 190, ranging in age from 10 to 95 – along with one full-time and one part-time employee – the Flemington Area Food Pantry provides food and personal care items to more than 1,300 families. The Pantry was visited close to 8,000 times this year by families struggling with income and/or health. 582 meals bags were distributed this Thanksgiving season. In 2018, the Pantry added new outreach programs for Hunterdon County based upon a notably growing need for our senior community, as indicated by a 56 percent increase in our senior visits. Along with delivering to a low-income senior development once a month, the Pantry is now open only for seniors on the 3rd Tuesday afternoon of each month where lunch is served and our seniors can enjoy peer camaraderie. Their 22nd Annual Empty Bowl Luncheon Fundraiser achieved a record-breaking year in its new location, thanks to the generous donations of local restaurants, the enthusiastic assistance of a truly inspiring volunteer crew, and over 600 local attendees. This event, along with community contributions, allows the Food Pantry to continue their mission ... despite a 24% increase in visits ... by purchasing fresh protein, produce and pantry staples. Pantry volunteers have the honor of witnessing first-hand the life-altering assistance your support makes in the lives of our clients: underemployed adults, families with children, veterans and seniors. Your help makes a difference. Donations can be made by check (mailed to: The Flemington Area Food Pantry, 154 NJ-31, Flemington, NJ 08822) or through an online contribution on their website at: www.FlemingtonFoodPantry.org. 1318 Route 31 P.O. Fredericks, Esq., Gebhardt & Kiefer, P.C. If you are a parent involved in a custody or divorce case, here are five common mistakes that you should avoid: 1. Not Taking Your Attorney's Advice If you have hired your attorney based on his/her expertise and experience, trust that his/her advice is in your best interest and don't ignore it. And always be sure to be candid with your attorney. 2. Involving Your Child in the Litigation It is best to avoid sending messages to your spouse via your child. You should also refrain from asking your child what goes on at the other parent's home, or about the other parent's paramour. Do not probe your child for information. 3. Having Your Child Write a Letter to the Court Do not have your children write letters to the judge or the court. This is detested by judges and, even though the information may be valuable, you will likely lose credibility with the Court if you engage your child in such a way. 4. Posting Information About Your Child on Social Media It is best to keep information about your children's activities (and your own) off social media during a divorce or custody case. 5. Being Dishonest with Experts A report from an expert indicating that you attempted to be less than forthcoming will not help your case.
