K e v i n w o y C e S P e a K S a t t h S a n n u a l m e e t i n G J a n u a r y 2 0 Kevin Woyce, noted author, lecturer and photographer, will be the guest speaker at the Tewksbury Historical Society's Annual Meeting on January 20, Sunday, at the Society's Headquarter, 60 Water Street in the Mountainville section of Tewksbury at 1:00 pm. The meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Woyce's lecture will trace the history of New Jersey through its two dozen State Parks. Old names such as Wawnyada and Hopatcong reflect our State's original "peoples", the Lenni Lenape Indians. Its battlefields call to mind New Jersey's position as the "Crossroads of America's Revolution". Abandoned forages recall the state's first great industry, while the beginnings of our transportation network ran along the paths of the Morris and Delaware & Raritan Canals. The slide show includes original photography of many of the parks, plus vintage maps and images of historic people, places and events. Woyce grew up in East Rutherford, one of 15 siblings. He currently resides in Lyndhurst with his wife. In the event of inclement weather the meeting will be cancelled. Visit www.tewksburyhistory@earthlink.net for details. Become a Clinton First Aid & Rescue volunteer and you could save lives in your spare time. Free training will give you the skills you need to provide emergency medical care, rescue someone from dangerous circumstances on land or in water, or transport a sick or injured patient to the hospital. Clinton First Aid & Rescue Needs Volunteers In All Categories: • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) provide immediate care to the ill and injured and transport the patient to the hospital. • Rescue Associates: EMTs or firefighters who also rescue people from life-threatening or hazardous circumstances, such as being trapped in a vehicle after an accident. • Water Rescue Associates use specialized skills to rescue people during water-related emergencies, such as boating accidents or floods. • Cadets are our youngest volunteers, ages 16 and 17. Cadets receive much of the same training and serve in many of the same ways as our other volunteers, and can quickly become full-duty members at age 18. Providing emergency medical and rescue services takes many skills. All volunteers receive the necessary training at no cost. Interested in joining us?
