Questions? Call: Steve Will: 908.735.8800, ext. 200 In the Spring of 2017 Clinton Township, North Hunterdon High School, and resident volunteers began the process of creating trails off Regional Road on Clinton Townships Open Space property. A s a t e a m , w e h a v e e x p l o r e d t h e e n t i r e 1 8 0 acre property of p r e s e r v e d o p e n space. The group braved tall grass, ticks, mud and the elements to mark o u t t r a i l s t h a t would eventually become a cross- c o u n t r y p a t h , walking trail and eventually fitness course. Clinton Township residents have been enjoying this beautiful Open Space property and student athletes have been using the trails for training and fitness drills. After the course was created, Hunterdon Healthcare expressed interest in donating fitness stations for the Fitness Trail. Their generosity has provided new ways for residents to exercise, contributing to improved health throughout the Township. Clinton Township and North Hunterdon High School share the maintenance and upkeep responsibilities for the property. We are thankful for the excellent working relationship with the High School on many projects which have provided wonderful things for residents and students. The Open Space Committee and Rotary Club solicited donations and, through their hard work and the generosity of donors, have accomplished the following: benches throughout the course, trail markers and a kiosk at the entrance of the park. Clinton Township recently added a parking area for residents to safely park their vehicles when using the Open Space property. We also have an Eagle Scout working on a trail blazing project which will provide wooded walking trails. In October, the Running of the L i o n s u s e d a portion of the trails for its 5k running and walking event w i t h o v e r 3 0 0 runners. Please take time out of your week to check out the property. A lot of hard work went into its recreational creation that I'm sure you will enjoy. I f y o u h a v e access to Facebook, please follow the page Welcome to Lions Country - A Clinton Township Trail Collaboration. Progress on this project has been documented from the beginning and I will be updating the page with any new updates and improvements regarding the property.
